Xiaomi Mi Band was released on 22nd July 2014. It was the first time the company took an initiative to produce a smart band which could just do few things like – sleep tracker, unlock your phone without password, as a fitnes monitor and that was it. It had just 3 led lights.
Moving on from there, the second generation came on 7th June 2016, approx. 2 years later to that of the prior generation. It was a better one with 0.42 inch OLED screen. But it had a lot more to offer as it came with sensors like accelerometer, heart rate sensing and vibration engine. But it was not a touch screen one.
This time finally Xiaomi empowered their previous generations with a lot number of changes to their new Mi Band 3 with released on 31st of May this year. It is a lot more different than the previous two generations. It has a 0.78 inch OLED screen with a Single point touch screen. Also has the touch type capacitive button at the bottom part of the watch. It has lot more features like – Notifications , finding the phone, changing the watch skins, the weather forecast, steps counting with distance and calorie burnt. It also has sleeping monitoring and heart rate sensor. This is thus a major upgrade over the past two editions of the Xiaomi Mi Band.
Final Verdict – If you are a Mi Band user , which means that you have used the previous bands, then also I would say that you can upgrade to this edition as it has a major upgrade this time. And if you are looking for a smart band at low cost, then you can go for this one as it has a Brand Name as well as good features at this price point.
